Self-defense: Rock Hill police won't charge man in fatal shooting of co-worker (3)

ROCK HILL— A fatal shooting in a business parking lot on June 19 won't lead to charges, Rock Hill police concluded.

Officers said that two co-workers in an altercation about 3 p.m. at Riverwalk Parkway near Cel-River Road each had brandished guns during a disagreement. A man at the business had driven from the property, and his female co-worker, identified by the York County Coroner as 39-year-old Samarian Lindsay of Rock Hill, entered another car, driven by Brittany Reed, 32, of Lancaster, police said. While the man was stopped in traffic, Reed drove in front of him to block his path and the passenger stepped out, investigators said.

Lindsay, brandishing a handgun, approached the passenger side of the man's car, police said. That's when the man pulled out his own gun and fired, striking the armed woman, police said.

Reed hopped out of her car and punched the driver, then stepped away after he warned her to back off, the report states. Police arrived and investigated the scene, where officers recovered two guns. An ambulance took Lindsay to Piedmont Medical Center in Rock Hill, where she was pronounced dead.
