Trolls slate wedding guest's dress they say is giving hospital 'scrubs' vibes (2024)

A WEDDING guest has been brutally mocked for her ''casual'' dress that looks like hospital ''scrubs''.

The wedding season is just around the corner and to make sure she looks her very best one guest took to Reddit to see what others thought of her outfit - however, the feedback was far from kind.

In the post, the woman, believed to be from the USA, explained that she had nuptials to attend in just three weeks and the dress code was set as ''black tie optional''.

As it will be a Spring ceremony and the wedding will be held outdoors, the bride had encouraged everyone to sport bright colours - and with that in mind, the fashionista had tried a number of options, both in-store, as well as online.

But after an unsuccessful shopping haul from an online retailer, the wedding guest headed back in town, where she, luckily, found a pastel blue dress.

The lovely blue frock, the snap of which she'd also uploaded to the post, was a midi dress just above her ankles, with flowy short sleeves, as well as a tie detailing around the waist, whilst the V-neckline offered a flattering cut.

In her head, the shopper had already also decided how she'd style the outfit on the big day, rocking the dress with adorable jewellery featuring blue birds with shiny gems, as well as a black cardigan on top.

She explained: ''I plan to wear black heels or wedges, with a semi cropped black cardigan.

''Also pictured is jewelry that I really liked and matches the colour of the dress. I went to Lane Bryant today to try it on for size and it was comfy.

''I want to avoid purchasing online because I bought 3 other things to try and had to return them all because the sizes were wrong.

''I don't want to make anymore trips to the post office... is this a good choice? The wedding is in 3 weeks.''

But whilst the Redditor may have been all chuffed with the find, the reaction online was not so positive, as dozens of mean trolls flocked to comments to advise her to find a different outfit.

I thought a wedding gift from my famous great aunt was 'costume jewelry' but it made me think twice - it's worth $150k

Many, for instance, reckoned the dress was anything but formal, with one writing: ''No. This looks like casual attire.''

Someone else agreed, adding: ''Black tie optional is in my opinion slightly more fancy than formal.

''That dress is far too casual. I would recommend going with a floor length gown.''

Another thought the frock belonged in a hospital, writing: ''No, this is a cotton sundress and tbh looks like scrubs.''

Bridal expert reveals the must-have trends for 2024

Event whizz Tsitsi Lynn Makuni claimed that mini gowns, wearing bows for tying the knot and donning bold accessories are among this season’s must-haves for marriage, The Sun reported earlier.

RING THE CHANGES - brides are opting for not one, but two dresses.

HITCH UP THE SKIRTS - short dresses were a huge hit at the Scottish Wedding Show’s October Catwalk and Tsitsi said more bridal boutiques are now offering shorter styles.

BRIGHT NOT WHITE - white and ivory dresses are no longer a given as more designers offer pastel options, and we will see a demand in more bold colours too.

BE BOLD - the accessories, too, will be as bold as our dresses. Expect to see dramatic headbands, pearl-embellished veils, elegant gloves and retro sunglasses.

TAKE A BOW - from small bows on headpieces and shoes to oversized bows on dresses, this is a wedding trend that’s showing no signs of slowing down, the expert revealed.

''That colour is cursed. No matter how nice the fabric, it will look like scrubs,'' a fourth chimed in.

As some Redditors raced to share links to other dress options more fitting in their eyes, another person said the blue frock was giving school staff vibes.

''That looks like a uniform. Lunch lady, cleaning lady, orderly dress.''
