Can you do Cazador without Astarion? ›

How can Astarion join the fight against Cazador? One way to handle this is by not bringing Astarion to the fight at all. You can turn back and go to your camp to swap out your party members up to the last second, so it's a perfectly viable option to finish the fight without your little vampire friend.

Rescue Astarion

You will not be able to free the other six spawn in the room, and they will remain part of the ritual until Cazador is killed. That said, if Astarion is freed or if any spawns die (Astarion included), the ritual will stop, and there will no longer be a three-turn limit.

To free Astarion, one of your party members needs to use the Help action on him, thus freeing him up to fight and permanently removing his contribution to Cazador's buff. If you don't free Astarion, Cazador will complete the ritual after a few turns, killing Astarion permanently, so make freeing him a priority.

Once combat begins, just select Astarion and move him to the ritual area, where he will join combat without being the victim of Cazador's telekinesis. This prevents Cazador from buffing himself from the start of the ritual, and lets all four members of the party take part in the fight from the start.

Should you Let Astarion Bite You? Letting Astarion bite you is an easy way to get approval with him. The simple answer is yes, as the only downside is gaining the Bloodless debuff, while Astarion gains the Happy buff and his approval rating of you increases.

Take Astarion with you as usual, wait for Cazador to restrain him, and then... push him off the edge. Like, seriously, kill him. Don't worry, if you kill him, you can still revive him later on, just as long as Cazador doesn't use him in the ritual.

If you choose to let Astarion go through with the ritual, he asks you to link your minds so you can see the runes on his back and copy them onto Cazador. It's brutal, but it works. Pretty much all of your party disagrees and disapproves, but if you let him continue, he gains new powers.

No, I preffer weapons with a blistering ROF, like Brfritos suggested. Light machine gun, minnie gun (just be careful with your reload speed with that one), gatling laser, laser RCW, the assault rifle (forgot what it's called), all fare well against cazadores, especially with AP or OC ammo.

Astarion's personality will change if you don't let him ascend. He will become more 'good' and will thank you for your efforts. He will state that the power of becoming an ascended vampire would have corrupted him, just like Cazador. If you're romancing him you'll also unlock more scenes.

How to Romance Astarion in Act 2. After you take Raphael's deal and to hunt down the Orthon in exchange for information about Astarion's scars, head to rest for the night and Astarion will want to talk to you. Pick the following options: "About your undying love for me?"

To gain more of an advantage in this battle, you can also approach the circle without Astarion, and convince Cazador (by passing a Deception check) that you'll bring him your companion. This gives you a window to attack with advantage, which can provide you with the help you need to conquer Cazador.

Cazador's main weakness is Sunlight Hypersensitivity. If caught within light at the start of his turn, Cazador suffers 20 Radiant damage and has a Disadvantage on all attack rolls and ability checks. This weakness alone is enough to tip the scales in your favor.

It's ironic that a quite sensible way of completing Astarion's companion quest is to fight Cazador without him. Not only does it make the fight easier, you don't have to worry about Astarion completing the ritual himself (if you're RPing a character who doesn't want that).

If you kill him or tell him to get lost, of course, this encounter has the possibility of ending Astarion's storyline right then and there. Otherwise, this event is one of the best opportunities to win some of the rogue's notoriously-scarce favor during Act One, especially if you plan on romancing Astarion.
